Trump Pledges to Eliminate Taxes on Service Industry Tips

In a groundbreaking announcement made in Nevada on Sunday, former President Donald Trump has committed to pushing for changes in the tax code if reelected, with a bold pledge to eliminate federal taxes on service workers’ tips.

“This is the first time I’ve said this, and for those hotel workers and people that get tips, you’re going to be very happy because, when I get to office, we are going to not charge taxes on tips,” Trump declared to a cheering crowd. “We’re not going to do it, and we’re going to do that right away, first thing in office.”

Trump highlighted the long-standing issue of taxing tips as a “point of contention,” directly addressing service workers by saying, “You do a great job of service; you take care of people, and I think it’s going to be something that really is deserved.”

Political commentator Phil Kerpen noted that this policy echoes a “long-time Ron Paul proposal” and is likely to resonate strongly in Nevada, a state with a significant hospitality industry. Ron Paul, the father of Senator Rand Paul, was one of the Republican Party’s most libertarian congressmen and even ran for President as the Libertarian Party candidate in 1988.

Trump’s latest move aligns with his ongoing efforts to appeal to Libertarian voters, more substantially than any Republican nominee in recent memory. Earlier this year, he made a notable appearance at the Libertarian national conference, promoting a “partnership to defeat communism, defeat Marxism, and defeat Crooked Joe Biden, who is destroying our country.”

Despite the party apparatus ultimately nominating LGBTQ open borders activist Chase Oliver, many Libertarian grassroots supporters may still lean towards Trump. Oliver, a former Democrat supporter, faced backlash within Libertarian circles, being labeled “a psyop to discredit real libertarian ideals and morals” after his nomination.

Trump’s pledge to eliminate taxes on service industry tips is a clear signal of his commitment to supporting the hardworking Americans who keep our economy thriving. It’s a promise that, if fulfilled, could provide significant financial relief to millions and reaffirm Trump’s position as a champion of the working class.
